The Chicago Auto Show is back.
Following a very scaled-down version that took place last year, the event has returnedalthough it's not quite as large as the event was before the COVID pandemic. The Chicago Auto Show runs Feb. 12-21, with hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. each day except the last day, which runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
However, there are reminders that COVID is here to stay (at least for the foreseeable future), with omnipresent face masks and hand-sanitizer dispensers.
In addition to returning fan-favorite indoor test tracks and the Supercar Gallery (which includes rare, exotic and ultra-high-performance sports cars), the show will feature a lineup of interactive activities, including the State Farm Safe Drive Showdown. Attendees will be able to step into Subaru's National Parks display; take on Toyota's brand-new Tundra indoor test track; and get a first glimpse of new EVs that will soon hit the market, like the Subaru Solterra and the Toyota bz4X.
Also new for 2022, show organizers honor first responders and military personnel by hosting a First Responders and Military Appreciation Day on Tuesday, Feb. 15. On that day, all first responders and military are granted free entry and their guests are admitted for just $10.
In addition, the Chicago Auto Show Food Drive will take place Feb. 16-18. Attendees can bring three cans of food to the Chicago Auto Show to receive a coupon for $5 off a full-price adult ticket. All food will be donated to A Safe Haven.
Face masks must be worn at the event.
