Heartland Health Outreach, Inc., benefitting Vital Bridges Center on Chronic Care, presented "Chefs and the City," its annual soiree, at the prestigious Union League Club of Chicago on April 23.

Not only was the venue new to the fundraiser in 2014, but the format and time of year were different. Instead of serving stations like past years, there was a sit-down formal four-course dinner with chefs such as Bravo's Top Chef Carlos Gaytan from Mexique and Bill Kim from bellyQ.

Hilarious presenters for the live auction raised money during the meal; among the offerings were a one-week stay for eight in Palm Springs, Calif., and a seven-night Mediterranean Cruise from Celebrity Cruises.

A cocktail hour beforehand featured sushi from Jellyfish and meats courtesy of TETE Charcuterie along with drink samplings from Sepia by Griffin Elliott.
