Photographs by Victor Skrebneski and Steve Becker will be featured in a one-day event in the Chicago Cultural Center's Garland and Washington rooms, as a one-month kick-off event to July's Gay Games in Chicago. Gay Games VII Sports & Cultural Festival gets underway July 15, 2006, with a spectacular Opening Ceremony at Soldier Field and will end
July 22, 2006, at Wrigley Field with the Closing Ceremony.
The 'Eye on the Champions' Photo Show will be Wednesday, June 14, from 5-8 p.m., 78 E. Washington, and is free to the public. There will be light hors d'oeuvres and beverages. All framing for the event is being provided by Artists' Frame Service. Catering will be provided by The Hearty Boys. There will also be post cards and posters available for purchase, and a silent auction of Gay Games memorabilia.
'Eye on the Champions,' presented by Gay Games Chicago, will include photos taken at the recent 100 Champions weekend Gay Games benefit, including of Greg Louganis, Mary Carillo, Matthew Cusick, Esera Tuaolo, Leigh-Ann Naidoo, Dave Kopay, Roy Simmons, Saskia Webber, Randy Duncan, Graham Ackerman, Courtney Yamada, Hearty Boys, Alexandra Billings, Martje Hoekmeijer, Aldo Castillo, Michael Leppen, and Dick Uyvari & Joe La Pat. More than 100 sports, culture, political, corporate and media luminaries were recognized at the Gay Games Chicago 100 Champions Gala held at Soldier Field's Cadillac Club, April 22-23, 2006.
