Champaign County-Uniting Pride of Champaign County announced the theme for the 2020 Champaign County Pride Celebration, taking place virtually Sept. 25-27: "Staying Apart—Rising United."

Some of the events include the Pride Fest Online Auction, an LGBTQIA+ pronoun workshop and Pride Fest Trivia Night; and youth-oriented items such as "Connecting to Queer History Through Drag" and "Connecting to Queer History Through Zines."

A press release stated, "It is our objective at Uniting Pride to ensure that Pride Fest is an actively anti-racist event." However, organizers concede that "when planning Pride Fest, we did not have any Black individuals on our Pride Committee; nor did we have any events planned specifically for Black members of our community." They apologized "for these sleights, and pledge to do better in the future."

Streaming of events made possible by the Unitarian Universalist Church of Champaign-Urbana.

More information can be found on the Uniting Pride website: www.unitingpride.org/pridefest2020 .
