Serena Worthingtonwho headed SAGE ( Services & Advocacy for GLBT Elders ) at Center on Halstedwill join the national chapter of SAGE as its new director of community advocacy and capacity-building, according to a press release.
Worthingtonwho will still be based in Chicagowill lead SAGENet, SAGE's national program of affiliates across the country that provides critical services to LGBT older adults. She will also work with local, state and federal groups to continue coordinating a federal agenda on LGBT aging and ensure that LGBT elders have the platforms to advocate on their own behalf.
Worthington said, "As a former director of a SAGE affiliate, I have been privileged to participate in the regional and national policy work that SAGE spearheads and have seen firsthand the incredible gains that SAGE and its affiliates have made. I am thrilled and honored to join SAGE."
