Center on Halsted receives $225K youth grant

The Chicago Department of Children and Youth Services ( DCYS ) recently announced that it is awarding a $225,000 grant to Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted, to expand the facility's programming for youth career development.
The Center's current program to develop vocational skills in LGBT youth, AccESS ( Access to Economic Self-Sufficiency ) , began in July 2006. The expanded program, Center on Halsted Youth Career Development Center ( YCDC ) , will recruit more than 300 youth to receive pre-employment training and assistance in securing jobs or internships. The YCDC is expected to be fully operational by March.
