The Chicago Bulls might not want to see the Cleveland Cavaliers' Donovan Mitchell anytime soon.
In Ohio, Mitchell set a team record with 71 pointsthe most by an NBA player in 17 yearsand the
Cavaliers (24-14) rallied from 21 points down to beat the Bulls (16-21) 145-134 in overtime, according to ESPN.
It was the most points in a game by any player since Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant had 81 against Toronto on Jan. 22, 2006. Wilt Chamberlain has the NBA record with 100 for Philadelphia against New York on March 2, 1962; he also scored more than 70 points in a game six times.
Mitchell's performance overshadowed the 44 points that the Bulls' DeMar DeRozan scored. Zach LaVine added 26.
The Cavaliers also edged the Bulls 103-102 at the United Center on Dec. 31, 2022.
Chicago will next host the Brooklyn Nets on Wed., Jan. 4.
