Internal affairs investigators are looking into a report that the official Twitter account for the Chicago Police Department (CPD) liked an anti-trans post by county-music singer Travis Tritt, according to The Chicago Sun-Times.
A photo on social media that circulated showed the department account had liked a post Tritt, who tweeted that he would be removing Anheuser-Busch products from the hospitality contracts on his tours, saying "I know many other artists who are doing the same."
In the wake of a Bud Light promotion with trans activist/TikTok personality/actress Dylan Mulvaney, Tritt and other conservatives say they are boycotting Anheuser-Buschthe beer conglomerate that owns Budweiser, Corona and dozens of other beer brands.
Tritt also tweeted a note aimed at consumers of Jack Daniel's, which is producing the reality show Drag Queen Summer Glamp with RuPaul Drag Race alums Bebe Zahara Benet, Trinity the Tuck and Manila Luzon. The singer stated, "All the @JackDaniels_US drinkers should take note."
Two years ago, the CPD announced the creation of an LGBTQ+ liaison program through its office of community policing. (Windy City Times interviewed citywide liaison Bernard Escamilla and Deputy Director of Community Policing Mike Milstein at www.windycitytimes.com/lgbt/Chicago-Police-Department-discusses-new-LGBTQ-liaisons/70929.html .) However, of the six officers initially assigned to the program, only one reportedly remained. WCT will update as related information becomes available.
