In advance of the Chicago Pride Parade on Sunday, June 30, the Chicago Police Department ( CPD ) has debuted a new vehicle, the Chicago Sun-Times noted.

The car will be deployed to CPD's 19th District on the North Side, which includes Boystown and covers the entire parade route. It has been confirmed that the car will be in the parade.

The LGBTQ community has had a strained relationship with CPD over the years—and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot ( who is lesbian herself ) has, among other things, has called for three mayoral LGBTQ liaisons to serve the South, West and North sides and for Chicago police officers to improve relations.

The Sun-Times article is at chicago.suntimes.com/news/2019/6/24/18715819/pride-parade-chicago-police-vehicle-lgbtq-lightfoot. The video of the car's preparation and unveiling is at www.youtube.com/watch .
