U.S. Sens. Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker separately revealed they have tested positive for COVID.
Fully vaccinated (including getting a booster shot), the 72-year old Massachusetts progressive declared on social media she was "only experiencing mild symptoms, per Deadline.
"I regularly test for COVID & while I tested negative earlier this week, today I tested positive with a breakthrough case," she tweeted, per CNN.com . "Thankfully, I am only experiencing mild symptoms & am grateful for the protection provided against serious illness that comes from being vaccinated & boosted.
"As cases increase across the country, I urge everyone who has not already done so to get the vaccine and the booster as soon as possibletogether, we can save lives."
As for Booker, the New Jersey Democrat said, "I learned today that I tested positive for COVID-19 after first feeling symptoms on Saturday. Fortunately, my symptoms are relatively mild," per CBS Philadelphia.
Like Warren, Booker is fully vaccinated and has received his booster.
The announcements came as the emergence of the Omicron variant has thrust the nationand the White Houseback into an uncertain pandemic reality, posing public-health and political challenges.
