A nationally touring art exhibit hopes to collect pieces by Chicagoland's children of LGBT parents at its Chicago stop.

'That's So Gay' is a traveling art show first started in San Francisco by children of LGBT parents in a COLAGE ( Children of Lesbians and Gays Everywhere ) youth development program. After hitting other cities around the country, 'That's So Gay' has landed in Chicago in hopes of opening minds and changing stereotypes. The exhibit, which contains images, text, art and a documentary film, offers the participants the chance to look at and learn about LGBT-related issues and families through the creative lens of these kids. COLAGE is a youth-led non-profit organization that gives support and activism by and for people with LGBT parents.

Dr. Orson Morrison, a co-chair of the COLAGE board of directors, brought 'That's So Gay' to the city. 'I wanted to bring a little bit of what we did in the Bay area here,' he said. 'It's more of an awareness building exhibit.'

One floor of the Chicago exhibit offers a space for children to create pieces to add to the show. On the other floor, participants can watch a house documentary and view the pieces.

What is interesting about the exhibit is that people can print the whole exhibit through COLAGE and bring it to their school, library or any public space.

The exhibit will be running until Aug. 1 at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology at 325 N. Wells on the 4th and 5th floors. The event is open to the public Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. See www.colage.org .
