The Chicago Metropolitan Sports Association ( CMSA ) will host the seventh annual Senior Cup softball tournament on Sept. 9 and 10. This one-of-a-kind tournament, for softball players 40 years and older, started in 2000 with seven teams and has now grown to an 18-team event.
Joining a field of eight Chicago teams will be athletes from Toronto, Cleveland, New York, Atlanta, San Diego, St. Louis, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis and other North American cities. This year's tournament will also feature a team composed of NAGAAA ( North American Gay Amateur Athletic Association ) officials and Hall of Famers.
The teams will compete at Waveland Park, at Lake Shore Drive and Irving Park Road. Registration will take place Sept. 8 at The North End, 3733 N. Halsted, and the Awards Presentation closing party will take place at Buck's Saloon, 3439 N. Halsted, on Sept. 10. Complete tournament information can be found at www.chicagoseniorcup.com .
