CGMC Celebrates Global Pride ... The Germans Are Coming

Along with special guests Windy City Gay Chorus and Schola Cantorosa from Chicago's 'sister' city of Hamburg, Germany, the Chicago Gay Men's Chorus presents 'Sisters: Hands Across The Water!' The curtain will rise once again when CGMC and their 'sisters' return to the at the Athenaeum Theater, 2936 N. Southport Ave., Friday July 9 at 8 p.m. and Saturday, July 10 at 5 and 8:30 p.m.
This year's Pride Concert, though two weeks later than usual, will give Chicago fans an early taste of what lies ahead for CGMC, its sisters, and more than 100 other choruses who will travel from around the globe to take part in the upcoming International Festival of Gay and Lesbian Choruses in Montreal later this month.
If you think CGMC is out of control on stage, wait until you see the wacky entertainment that the 'Pirates' of Hamburg's Schola Cantorosa regularly dream up.
'Expect the unexpected,' says Patrick Sinozich, CGMC's Artistic Director. 'Being part of this year's GALA Festival gives us an opportunity to showcase that we're both chorally and comedically skilled. Doing three shows a year allows the chorus reinvent itself time and again, and this next show exemplifies how versatile we can be in our performance.'
