The Chicago Gay Hockey Association recorded its first win of the 2004-05 season, defeating NYR 2-1 at the Nelson Sports Complex in Rolling Meadows. The CGHA improves its record to 1-3 and now prepares for a Wednesday night game ( Dec. 15 ) against the Drunk Penguins ( 10:20 p.m. at Hoffman Estates 2 ) .
Tom Benn made his season debut at right wing on the line centered by Rusty Fleury and featuring left wing Chuck Jacobson. Ironically, though, it was during a shift on center Larry Zyks' line that Benn registered the CGHA's opening goal. Benn scored at 4:39 on assists from Julian Delvecchio and Zyks.
Right wing Michael Ko scored his first goal of the season at 8:16 of the second period on a perfect centering pass from Zyks, who dished it to Ko from the left-hand side.
Goalie Keith Halverson ( 26 saves ) was near flawless, earning Game Puck honors. NYR's lone tally came at 4:52 of the second period.
