The Chicago Alternative Comics Expo ( CAKE )a weekend-long celebration of independent comicswill take place June 2-3 at Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted St.
The event is free to enter, and will take place 11 a.m.-6 p.m. each day. Special guests will include Tony Breed, Nicole Hollander, Audrey Niffenegger, Eddie Campbell, Jim Woodring, Bianca Xunise, Fiona Smyth and more.
Also, on June 2, there will be an after-party at GMan Tavern, 3740 N. Clark St., 8-11 p.m. In addition, on Friday, June 1, Quimby's, 1854 W. North Ave., will host a kickoff event at 7 p.m. that will spotlight the Midwestern comics press Uncivilized Books.
Featuring comics for sale, workshops, exhibitions, panel discussions and more, CAKE aims to foster community and dialogue amongst independent artists, small presses, publishers and readers.
