WNBA player Latasha Byears, 32, reached a settlement with the Los Angeles Sparks, her team from 2001-2003, after claiming she was cut from the teamfor being a lesbian, The Advocate reported. However, the settlement prevents either side from talking.
Byears has a history with the law. In 2003, USA Today reported that she was under investigation for allegedly sexually assaulting a former teammate. She also pleaded no contest to reckless driving in 2002 and was suspended for one game.
Byears, who helped the Sparks win league titles in 2001 and 2002 and played for DePaul University, now plays with the Washington Mystics.
