Poundstone: 'no contest'
Comic Paula Poundstone pleaded no contest last week to child abuse and infliction of injury on a child, that reportedly involve her adoptive and foster children, AFP reports.
She will be sentenced Oct. 10 to five years' formal probation and six months in an alcohol and drug rehab facility.
AFP also said Poundstone's relationship with her foster children has been terminated. The status of her relationship with her adopted children is not known.
DP BENEFITS IN CA.
A bill that would grant unmarried domestic partners sick leave benefits, the right to sue for wrongful death and the ability to make medical decisions for each other has passed the California Senate and is set to become law. It is among the most comprehensive domestic-partner rights in the nation.
Sharon Smith, the partner of San Francisco dog mauling victim Diane Whipple, testified in favor of the measure.
The bill has 13 legal protections. Gov. Gray Davis said he will sign AB 25, but first the bill will return to the Assembly.
