There have been rumors for years, but now there is a book that claims that former President Abraham Lincoln was gay, The New York Times reported. In The Intimate World of Abraham Lincoln, to be published next month by Free Press, C.A. Tripp, a psychologist, tries to resolve the issue of Lincoln's sexuality. The author, who died two weeks after finishing the book in 2003, subjected almost every word ever written by and about Lincoln to minute analysis. His conclusion is that America's greatest president was a gay man. Among other things, Tripp asserts that Lincoln had a homosexual relationship with the captain of his bodyguards, David V. Derickson.
Joe Simpson, the manager and father of singer-actress Ashlee Simpson, has changed the gay plot in her movie debut, because he's uncomfortable with her playing a lesbian, according to an item initially published in PageSix.com . The former Baptist minister fears the star's chances of breaking into Hollywood would be hampered if she played gay in Wannabe, so he ordered movie producers to alter the romantic comedy's script.
In response to the widespread use of tobacco in the gay and lesbian community, Robert Starkey has started the Smokefree Revolution Web site ( www.smokefreerevolution.org ) , which is devoted to gay smoke-free destinations worldwide. The group's press release adds that GLBT businesses wishing to be added to the smoke-free links can contact Smokefree Revolution via the Web site or e-mail BreathRightsSF@aol.com . |
