On Saturday, Jan. 29, more than 150 bowlers will gather at River Rand Bowl in Des Plaines for the 8th Annual 'Strike Out Hunger'. The event will benefit Vital Bridges, a multi-service HIV/AIDS agency. Proceeds from this event will support Vital Bridges' nutrition services for low-income men, women and children with HIV and AIDS throughout metropolitan Chicago.
Vital Bridges, the merger of Open Hand Chicago, Community Response and the HIV Coalition, helps more than 2,600 people impacted by HIV and AIDS each year to improve their health and build self-sufficiency. By providing food, nutrition, housing, case management and prevention services at six sites throughout the metropolitan area, the agency offers clients accessible, responsive professional help to meet the challenges in their lives.

Strictly Sail Event
Strictly Sail Chicago, the largest annual gathering of sailors in the Midwest, will be held at Navy Pier Feb. 3-6, 2005. More than 20,000 people are expected to visit the four-day event to see more than 250 exhibitors showcasing the newest sailboats and sailing accessories on the market.
In addition to the 10th anniversary celebration, and showcasing new products, Strictly Sail Chicago offers attendees an opportunity to learn about sailing through its seminar series. Newcomers to sailing will be taught the basics, while seasoned seafarers can come to learn new techniques. Sailing celebrities will also share tales of their experiences at sea.
