Two May events at the Siskel Film Center, 164 N. State St., focus on members of the LGBT community.

On Friday, May 17, at 7 p.m., artist/activist/professor Gregg Bordowitz will present two films: the 1989 Marlon Riggs cult classic Tongues Untied ( which celebrates gay Black culture but also documents homophobia and racism ) and Bordowitz's own 1993 movie Fast Trip, Long Drop ( an autobiographical documentary ).

Bordowitz is also the subject of the Art Institute of Chicago exhbition " Gregg Bordowitz: I Wanna Be Well," with runs through July 14.

Also, on May 24-30, the 2018 British film Nureyev—about the life of legendary Russian ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev—will run. Front and center is a previously unseen trove of early and rare VHS performance footage from the collection of the Rudolf Nureyev Foundation, plus extended dance sequences charting the artist's relationship with Danish dancer Erik Bruhn, and career-changing partnership with London Royal Balle prima ballerina Margot Fonteyn.
