Book: Out and Proud launches at Women and Children First Books

A sizeable crowd gathered at Women and Children First, 5233 N. Clark, to witness the launch of Out and Proud in Chicago: An Overview of the City's Gay Community ( Surrey Books, 224 pages, $30 ) , the first overview of Chicago's LGBT community and its history. Among those appearing were editor Tracy Baim and writers Jorjet Harper and Jonathan Abarbanel. Future signings will occur Friday, Sept. 26, and Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Sears Tower Metropolitan Club ( 233 S. Wacker ) and at the Center on Halsted ( 3656 N. Halsted ) , respectively.
