The National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum, in Milwaukee, unveiled the first bobblehead of United States Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, who was the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, during 2012-20, earning him the nickname "Mayor Pete."
The smiling Buttigieg bobblehead is dressed in a dark suit and blue tie and standing with his hands in his pockets on a circular stars and stripes base bearing his name. Each bobblehead is individually numbered to 2,021 to commemorate the year Buttigieg became the Secretary of Transportation.
Launching his presidential campaign on April 14, 2019, Buttigieg became the first out person in the Democratic Party to run for president. (In 2012, Fred Karger ran in the Republican primary.) In the 2020 Democratic Party primaries, he narrowly won the Iowa caucuses and placed second in New Hampshire. Buttigieg, who campaigned on healthcare and infrastructure reform, became the first out presidential Cabinet member to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate for his Cabinet post. He has been married to Chasten Glezman Buttigieg since 2018.
The bobbleheads are only available through the National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum's online store. The bobbleheads are $25 each plus a flat-rate shipping charge of $8 per order.
