On Dec. 29, the Chicago Blackhawks (8-22-4) lost at the St. Louis Blues (17-16-3) 3-1.
In the first period, the Blues struck first in the game, but the Blackhawks battled back with a power play goal from Patrick Kane to tie things up at 1-1, a team release stated. However, it wouldn't be enough as the Blues came back into the second period to improve their lead to 2-1.
In the Blackhawks' last seven games, they have only scored two goals or more only one time, which was against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Dec. 23.
Chicago next visit the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday, Dec. 31.
In men's college basketball, the host Northwestern University Wildcats (10-2) beat the Ivy League's Brown University Bears (7-6) 63-58 on Dec. 29.
Chase Audige reached 1,000 career points and led Northwestern with 24 points, the school noted.
With the new year comes the conference schedule, and NU will start with Ohio State on Sunday, Jan. 1.
Also on Dec. 29, the DePaul University Blue Demons (7-7) defeated the visiting Georgetown Hoyas (5-9) 83-76.
Umoja Gibson led DePaul with 31 points; he also had five assists and four steals, CBS News noted. Brandon Murray scored 29 points for the Hoyas.
DePaul will next host Providence on Sunday, Jan. 1.
