Tennis icon Billie Jean King will be honored with the Muhammad Ali Legacy Award presented by Alkaline88 at the 2021 Sports Illustrated Awards on Tuesday, Dec. 7.
The honor celebrates individuals whose dedication to the ideals of sportsmanship has spanned decades and whose career in athletics has directly or indirectly impacted the world. King will receive the award live from the event, presented by two-time Olympic gold medalist and four-time First Team All-American softball player Jessica Mendoza.
The most recent Muhammad Ali Legacy Award recipients include LeBron James (2020), Warrick Dunn (2019), John Cena (2018) and Colin Kapernick (2017).
The 2021 Sports Illustrated Awards (The SI Awards) Presented by Pepsi Stronger Together will be hosted by DJ Khaled and Cari Champion. The event will be broadcast in front of a live audience from Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
The awards show will also be highlighted by a live reveal of the 2021 Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year in addition to recognizing notable athletes, teams and sports moments that made the year memorable. This is the first time the prestigious award will be revealed live at the award show.
