It looks like soccer heartthrob David Beckham is coming to Chicago after all.
Major League Soccer and Real Madrid, Beckham's team, announced recently that Real Madrid and Chivas Guadalajara, the teams of the Spanish and Mexican leagues that have the most wins, will play each other in a 5:30 exhibition match at Soldier Field on July 16. According to the Chicago Tribune, the game will follow a regular-season match between the Chicago Fire and the Columbus Crew.
Real Madrid is a nine-time European club champion that has 29 Spanish league titles. The team has some of the world's great players in Beckham, Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane. Real Madrid has only played in the United States 11 times; this match will be its first visit to Chicago. In late May, there was speculation that the blonde idol—who is married to former Posh Spice Victoria Adams—would appear in a May 28 game in Chicago between England and the United States. However, that appearance never materialized.
