Spring has popped its lovely little head out this week and did it feel good! It's also letting me stay here in Chicago; I don't have an excuse to go to warmer climates for a few weeks!
The Barony's first Slave Auction on the 7th of March at Cell Block raised $1,300 for our charities, my congratulations and thanks to Marc and all who helped make this event such a huge success. Baron Steve and I 'celebrity bartended' for the Center on Halsted on the 16th and raised $119 in tips for this great cause.
All of the members of the Barony are hard at work, we've got some great benefits coming up. The first of course being 'Dragocious- Something to Dance About' Monday, March 31 at the Baton. Tickets are $15 for reserved seating. There's an early show at eight o'clock and another at ten. I'd get those tickets now, last year's show was a sell-out and we had to turn people away at the door. Don't miss out on the fun, this show rocks!
The 'boyz' at Clark's on Clark will be holding their first Turnabout Show on the 13th of April with Baroness I Rachael St. James. It will also debut a new 'gurl' on the circuit as MIA PYNION hits the footlights for the first time! Can't wait to see this! I finally get to be a drag mommy!
We've got our 1st Annual Easter Bonnet Parade and Contest coming up on the 20th of April, keep an eye out for more details on this one. The prizes are phenomenal and the stroll down Halsted from the north and south is going to turn heads for sure!
As if that wasn't enough, the Annual Derby Party at Sidetrack on May 3rd will be bigger and better than ever. Catherine the Great has been banished from this one, as there will be too much 'horsemeat' around.
So we've been up and down Halsted and Clark street, from show lounges to leather bars, as intended, involving all of our community in our efforts.
It's not just about crowns and gowns. If you're interested in joining in our efforts contact us at barony_of_chicago@yahoo.com or visit our website at www.baronyofchicago.org
