Artemis Singers' More Than Music Pride choral concert and community dance, will include poet e nina jay, author of Body of Rooms, and DJ OCD in the soaring gothic acoustically beautiful space of First Unitarian Church of Chicago in Hyde Park on June 9.
The theme for the evening reflects that the organization goes beyond choral singing, presenting music written or arranged by women. Artemis works to effect positive change in cultural attitudes toward women and women artists, as well as to increase the visibility of lesbian feminists. Performers and audience explore the roots of the identities of women, lesbians and feminists which naturally leads to themes of peace, community building, and social justice.
As a community organization, Artemis provides a place where women come together to learn about each other, harmonize, self-govern, develop new skills, craft performances, and come back to the music and to one another.
Discounted tickets for students, seniors and children. More information at morethanmusic.brownpapertickets.com/ . |
