A 45-year-old Chicagoan has been arrested in connection with an attack on a 65-year-old suburban man who was beaten and sodomized with a tree branch in Grant Park, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

The victim was found in the 800 block of South Michigan. He suffered extreme facial and cranial trauma in addition to the sexual abuse.

The suspect, from the 1400 block of South Canal, was paroled in May 2010 for an armed robbery; he had been sentenced to 20 years in March 2001.
