CAKE ( the Chicago Alternative Comics Expo ) will take place at Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted Ave., on June 1-2.

According to its website, CAKE "is a weekend-long celebration of independent comics, inspired by Chicago's rich legacy as home to many of underground and alternative comics' most talented artists—past, present and future."

Special guests will include Nicholas Gurewitch, Corinne Halbert, Isabella Rotman, Ben Passmore, Rosemary Valero-O'Connell and more.

An after-party will take place Saturday, June 1, 8 p.m.-12 a.m., at Emporium Logan Square, 2363 N. Milwaukee Ave.
