Recording artist and actor Alex Newell—who played Unique Adams on the Fox show Glee—joined Chicago theatwe artists at a Valentine's Day-themed event, "Love Is Love Is Love," a concert that benefited Planned Parenthood, The Trevor Project and the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Directed by Scott Weinstein and Hannah Dawe with Music Direction by Jermaine Hill, the concert took place at the Windy City Playhouse on Feb. 13.

Emcee Alex Weisman ( and his puppet Tyrone ) kicked off the evening by telling the packed house that the reason for the benefit concert was not only to help raise funds for the three benefactors but to also spread some much-needed love and laughter to help alleviate some of the stress most people are experiencing due to the current state of the country. The powerful performances included song, stand-up comedy and spoken word.

Performers included:

Alex Newell ( Recording artist & star of Glee )

Donica Lynn ( Drury Lane's Smokey Joe's Cafe )

Jonathan Butler Duplessis ( Paramount's The Little Mermaid )

Alex Weisman ( Victory Garden's Hand to God )

Devin DeSantis ( Paramount's The Little Mermaid )

Stephen Schellhardt ( Writers' Days Like Today )

Yando Lopez ( Steppenwolf's The Christians )

Bethany Thomas ( Marriott's South Pacific )

Second City's Peter Kim

Landree Flemming ( Paramount's Hairpsray )

John Keating ( Paramount's The Little Mermaid )

Emma Rosenthal ( Drury Lane's West Side Story )

Bear Bellinger ( Hypocrites' The Adding Machine )

Jackson Evans ( Mercury Theater's Avenue Q )

Keely Vasquez ( Porchlight's In the Heights )

And the ensemble of Theo Ubique's 2015, Jeff-Award winning production of RENT!
