Affinity Community Services will hold its annual "Burning Bowl" ceremony Saturday, Jan. 11, 1-4 p.m., at the Charles A. Hayes Family Investment Center, 4859 S. Wabash Ave.

Outgoing Executive Director Imani Rupert-Gordon will be the keynote speaker. Rupert-Gordon recently accepted a role as executive director of the National Center for Lesbian Rights ( NCLR ), in San Francisco.

Burning Bowl is a longstanding Affinity tradition that involves purging the previous year's challenges and negativity, as attendees write affirmations, goal and focus areas for the current year as well as words of inspiration. This event also includes food, performances and fellowship, and it allows people to learn about Affinity's accomplishments, direction for the new year and upcoming events.

See "Burning Bowl: Homecoming 2020" on Facebook, or visit Affinity95.org .
