Come spring, seasoned and novice runners will begin to prepare for a journey that may very well be the challenge of a lifetime. The AIDS Foundation of Chicago (AFC), in conjunction with Walk-The-Talk Productions, is bringing the National AIDS Marathon Training Program to Chicago.
The training regimen takes individuals who may have never run more than a mile and turns them into conditioned marathoners. In exchange for the specialized training support, participants will raise funds to benefit prevention and care services funded through AFC's private grantmaking program.
Since 1998, nearly 9,000 people across the country have successfully completed the marathon training program and raised $25 million for the fight to end AIDS. The six-month program, designed by Olympic athlete and world-renowned marathon trainer Jeff Galloway, combines both running and walking and is geared to beginners and experienced runners alike. Participants will have the choice of training for The LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon or the Dublin Marathon in Dublin, Ireland.
