The 2005 Windy City Times 30 Under 30 Awards marked a departure from past years. This time, we held a special awards ceremony at the Hilton downtown June 8, with almost all of the honorees attending. Many family and friends joined in the event, which showcased some of the top stars of the next generation of leaders.
This also marks the first year we will have permanent 30 Under 30 'classes.' This means someone inducted in the 30 Under 30 Class of 2005 will no longer be eligible for the honor in future years.
Thanks to event co-hosts AIDS Foundation of Chicago, Chicago House and Lesbian Community Cancer Project—their agency executive directors, Mark Ishaug, Stan Sloan and Jessica Halem, all spoke at the ceremony and helped push this event to the next level.
There was also a special check presentation by Chix Mix to a youth selected with QYC of the western suburbs.
Each year, WCT asks the community to nominate for this contest. See below for profiles of this year's 30 Under 30—a busy group of people nominated by their friends and colleagues for the work they do for all of us.
