The 25th annual Proud To Run will take place June 24 at 8:04 a.m.
The 10K run, 5K run and 2-mile fun walk will occur with a new starting point on Foster Avenue near the Foster Beach House, according to a press release. CNA Insurance will return as a major corporate sponsor, with Tedino's Pizzeria & Restaurant added on as a new sponsor. Among the other sponsors are Fleet Feet Sports, Bally's, Sidetrack, Big Chicks, Crew and Windy City Times.
Airline tickets will be awarded to the first-place male and female finishers of the 5K and 10K races, courtesy of Orbitz. Another ticket will be randomly awarded to one of the other participants or volunteers. Fleet Feet Chicago and Know No Limits will also be raffling off prizes. George Takei ( 'Star Trek' ) will be guest emcee and the Chicago Spirit Brigade and ROTC will provide post-race entertainment. The following afternoon, Crew Sports Bar will host a meal and celebration. There will be a dinner on the eve of the race at Glen's Diner, a new restaurant located at 1820 W. Montrose.
Corbin Woodling is leading a marathon training run on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m., starting at the totem pole at Addison and Lake Shore Drive. The training program is timed to assist runners participating in the Gay Games in July.
On June 17, there will be registration and packet pick-up at the Totem Pole at Addison in Lincoln Park from 9-10 a.m. and then at Women And Children First, 5233 N. Clark, from 1-4 p.m. That evening, there will be a 'tag' night at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted, to raise funds for the race's two beneficiaries, Gerber/Hart Library and Pride Youth.
