Chicago Black Pride this weekend
The 3rd Annual Chicago Black Pride, "Expression of Pride," runs June 28-July 4. Performers from all over the U.S. will attend, in addition to local talent. The majority of Chicago Black Pride events will be located at the Palmer House Hilton, 17 E. Monroe.
Some of the main events include June 28 workshops, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
June 29: 5-7 p.m., workshops and seminars, 7 p.m. concert with DANI of Dantee Enterprise from New Jersey; New York's Gender-Illusionist Dred King the "Funky, Fly, Supernatural-High, Musical Performance on Gender-Fluidity"; and a theatrical performance by D.C.'s Emerald City Productions. This event will be at the Host Hotel starting at 7 p.m.
At 11:30 p.m. Chicago Friends will be hosting the annual Midnight Cruise.
June 30: At 5 p.m., Splash Pool Party featuring an array of activities. Music and other entertainment will be provided, hosted by Ms. Rough and Stuff.
At 10 p.m., look for "Diva's Around The World," a Talent Showcase featuring transgender competitors.
July 1: Annual Festival hosted at Lincoln Park featuring vendors, entertainment, and more. Performances by Windy City All Stars—Children Gymnasts, Gospel talent "Victoria," Jazz/Blue Singer Gwen Avery, recording artist DANI, R&B Singer "Butterfly," Hip Hop artist "Dee Lamour," Atlanta's Hip Hop artist Jade Mack, and R&B singer Nanette Frank.
