Youth from the Little Black Pearl Art and Design Center, 1060 E 47th, and the Youth Pride Center ( YPC ) , 637 S. Dearborn, will honor those who have made a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS and lifetime achievement in the LGBT community in 'Living Legends: A Soulful Tribute,' a gala that will take place Feb. 26 at Little Black Pearl.
The event will bring together some of Chicago's living 'history makers' under one roof with 100 youth wearing red and black.
Some of the honorees include State Representative Connie Howard, D-Chicago; Chicago Department of Public Health's Lora Branch; Howard Brown's Lois Bates; Sankofa Way's Rev. Deborah Lake; and Test Positive Aware Network's Keith Green.
The two-hour choreographed program, which starts at 7:30 p.m., will showcase talents from both the YPC and Little Black Pearl. A private reception with honorees ( and that will feature silent and live auctions of the youths' artwork ) will take place at 6 p.m.
Tickets for the event are $25. ( The reception and gala can both be attended for $50. ) . Youth are asking for organizational/corporate support at $1,000 ( admission for 10 to all weekend events ) .
