Findings from reports such as "Injustice at Every Turn: A Report of the National Transgender Discrimination Survey" and "How to Close the LGBT Health Disparities Gap" repeatedly show that LGBT people face a higher incidence of health disparities and greater discrimination in health care settings across their lifespan. There are also fewer financial and community resources to tackle the serious health issues facing LGBT people and their families, making health care reform even more important. According to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, the Affordable Care Act may represent the strongest foundation our nation has ever created to begin closing LGBT health disparities.
