Aging Gracelessly: 50 Shades of Fay! on stage July 9 at the Center on Halsted
After touring the East Coast with her one-woman show Aging Gracelessly:50 Shades of Fay, humorist Fay Jacobs will make her Chicago debut July 9, for one show only, at the Center on Halsted.
Fay will be onstage in Chicago following shows at the famed Duplex Cabaret in New York, on an Olivia cruise, and gigs in Ft. Lauderdale, Winston-Salem, Philadelphia, Allentown, Asheville, Rehoboth Beach, Provincetown and many more.
At its core, Aging Gracelessly highlights the author's insistence that nothing is ever so terrible if it's worth the story you can tell. The event has Fay's signature humor, based on her five published books and her stories of tackling life, liberty and the aging process — plus insights into the road to marriage equality and more.
Critics have been enchanted by her evening of story-telling, dubbing her "a revelation as a performer" and "the last comic sitting." Audiences up and down the East Coast have given her "insightful, moving, brilliant and hysterical" show standing ovations.
"I broke into show biz at an age I'd more likely break a hip!" says Jacobs, whose books, ( www.Bywater Books ), have won numerous national awards, including nods from the Rainbow Book Awards, American Library Association and National Association of Press Women.
Tickets for this one performance only show are available online at the Center at: community.centeronhalsted.org/FayJacobs .

"Fay gives us an intelligent, hysterically funny and occasionally poignant look at how we live today, with hopes for tomorrow. Recommended for everyone, male or female, gay or straight." Echo Magazine
"When seen through the magnifying glass of her mind, life is by turns hysterical, terrifying, and moving. Fay is a queer national treasure, and her face belongs on Mt. Rushmore." - Michael Thomas Ford two-time Lambda Literary winner
"She makes you laugh and she makes you think - and then you laugh again, and again and again." — Comic Jennie McNulty
So Come along for the ride as Fay shares life with her wife Bonnie in one boat, two condos, two houses, and an RV, loving a succession of Schnauzers, and being domestic partnered, civil unioned and married.
