Sunday October 15th

Marge Summit Celebration of Life
4:00pm - 7:00pm

Legendary Chicago bar owner, promoter of live music artists, political advocate and much more who passed away on May 16, 2023. Born Sept. 3, 1935 in Chicago, Marge made her unique mark on the city's LGBTQ+ community over her 80+ years. Most renowned for the bar His N Hers, Marge brought all element of our community together with great food (the burgers alone were #1) hosting an open mic night that allowed several local talented artists to establish their names and standing up as an out and proud lesbian. Her most successful effort was the Gay Dollar campaign she launched with friend Frank Kellas. By stamping a simple gay dollar notation on dollar bills, she helped demonstrate the financial impact our community had across Chicago. Marge was inducted into Chicago's LGBTQ Hall of Fame in 1993 for her impact on Chicago. Marge was preceded in death by her wife Janan Linley and is survived by her daughter and family, Tanya & Phil Nelson plus numerous friends. Everyone is welcome to join her friends at the Baton Show Lounge 4713 North Broadway on Sunday Oct. 15 from 4 - 7 pm to share memories and stories of this remarkable lesbian that held Chicago's LGBTQ+ community in her heart for over 80 years. Cash bar and complimentary light bites will be offered.
