Cher, Dionne among Rock & Roll HoF honorees; Mariah snubbed

On April 21, The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation announced its 2024 inductees, per an ABC press release.

In the performer category, the inductees are Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & The Gang, Ozzy Osbourne and A Tribe Called Quest.

In addition, Alexis Korner, Big Mama Thornton and John Mayall will receive Musical Influencer Awards; Dionne Warwick, Jimmy Buffett, MC5 and Norman Whitfield will receive Musical Excellence Awards; and Suzanne de Passe will be honored with the Ahmet Ertegun Award.

To be eligible, an individual artist or band must have released its first commercial recording at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination. Four out of the eight inductees in the Performer category were on the ballot for the first time, including Cher, Foreigner, Kool & the Gang and Frampton.

The 2024 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction will be live on Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. The 2024 ceremony will once again stream live on Disney+ with a special airing on ABC at a later date and available on Hulu the next day.

Among the artists who were not selected were Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz, the late Sinead O'Connor, Oasis and Sade.
