Lesbian tennis legend Martina Navratilova has been in the news lately for anti-trans comments, although she has been making them for quite some time.

She recently sparked controversy with her remarks on a tribute by UK LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall, The Advocate noted. Navratilova took to social media to voice her opposition to the inclusion of a transgender woman in Stonewall's Lesbian Visibility tribute, posting, "a bloke cannot be a lesbian. No matter what they say, no matter how they feel, no matter how much they try to convince us otherwise. A bloke [unequal sign] a lesbian."

Navratilova has also made comments about a transgender woman who broke a swimming record at a small liberal arts college, The Express noted. Meghan Cortez-Fields swam the 100-yard butterfly in 57.22 seconds—a record for Ramapo College.

Navratilova, who currently spends significant time commenting online about transgender women in sports, wrote, "Women's sports is not the place for mediocre male athletes who compete as women. Period." Ramapo College told Fox News that it continues to support Cortez-Fields despite deleting a social-media post about her accomplishment.

Earlier this year, soccer icon Megan Rapinoe told Time magazine that Navratilova, ESPN anchor Sage Steele and comedian Dave Chappelle were partly to blame for the rise in transphobia in the United States. Navratilova simply posted "Yikes…" in response.
