LGBTQ Asian American, affordable housing groups plan benefit June 10

Chicago - A joint fundraiser for Invisible to Invincible ( i2i ) and ONE Northside will be held on June 10, 2017, between 6-8pm, at The Glenwood, 6962 N. Glenwood Ave. in Rogers Park near the CTA Red Line Morse Station. The fundraiser is entitled Cya Later Party and will feature performances starting at 7pm by Storyteller and Author Ada Cheng and genderqueer Singer/Songwriter SuperKnova. Organizers are requesting donations between $0 and $30. Appetizers are included. Cash Bar and a full menu will be available.

Ada Chang is a professor-turned storyteller and performing artist. She has been featured at storytelling shows in Chicago, Atlanta, Cedar Rapids, and New York. She will be bringing her solo show, NOT QUITE: ASIAN AMERICAN BY LAW, ASIAN WOMAN BY DESIRE, to National Storytelling Conference in June, Capital Fringe Festival in July, and Minnesota Fringe Festival and Boulder International Fringe Festival in August. SuperKnova is a Chicago-based guitarist, singer/songwriter and producer. A genderfluid non-binary individual, they strive to create music reflective of their identity. Channeling influences that range from Jimi Hendrix to Jay-Z to Cat Power, SuperKnova creates "genderqueer" pop, a sound that is alternative and genre-defying but also catchy and accessible. "I've lived in Rogers Park for 20 years and i2i and ONE Northside are two very important organizations to my heart. Now that's I'm moving, I wanted to do one last thing to give back to my communities," says organizer Liz Thomson. Thomson has been an activist, organizer, photographer, and educator in the LGBTQ, Asian American, feminist, and in many higher education institutions in Chicago and Chicago area.
