As now-former Exxon CEO Rex Tillerson, President Donald Trump's nominee for secretary of state, had his confirmation hearing, the Democratic National Committee ( DNC ) issued a release about his company's track record with LGBTQ rights.
The release centered on article excerpts from news outlets and human-rights organizations. Among the items listed in the DNC report are:
Exxon's non-discrimination policy only covering LGBTQ employees in the United States;
The Human Rights Campaign consistently giving Exxon poor grades on its handling of LGBTQ issues; and
Exxon's billions in investments with Russia, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, which all have staunch anti-LGBTQ policies.
