The Human Rights Campaign ( HRC ) has issued a report on the flurry of anti-transgender measures that states have already filed in 2016.
According to the report, "Anti-Transgender Legislation Spreads Nationwide, Bills Targeting Transgender Children Surge," 21 anti-trans bills were considered in 2015; already, 44 have been filed ( in 16 states ) this year. The 44 have been divided into: 29 bathroom/locker room/sports, two health ( including prisoner health care ), three anti-trans marriage, three discrimination carveout, two birth certificate, and five FADAs ( First Amendment Defense Act items ).
Twenty-three of the 44 anti-transgender bills filed this year are leveled at transgender children in schools and playing school sports.
The report goes on to state that, overall, "a stunning 175+ anti-LGBT bills have been filed so far this year in 32 states."
