Center on Halsted's 2015 Human First Gala to convene as Kinfolk

Center on Halsted will host the annual Human First Performance & Gala on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at 5:30 p.m. in the magnificent Great Hall at Chicago Union station; located at 500 W Jackson Blvd., Chicago, IL. Human First recognizes the contributions of individuals, businesses and other organizations to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer ( LGBTQ ) community in Chicago.

Human First provides an opportunity to reflect upon and celebrate past accomplishments, while we look forward to the work ahead as we continue to build a world where we are, above all, human first. In addition to raising vital funds to support Center on Halsted programs and services, the Human First Award and Community Spirit Award will be presented to several outstanding civic leaders for their important contributions to the advancement of Chicago's LGBTQ movement.

This year, we convene as Kinfolk. With an unconditional commitment to our common thread as family and to our loved ones, we work to strengthen the fabric of our community. Center on Halsted recognizes the hard work of individuals in supporting this family that acts as a catalyst for others and each other to advocate for full equality.

This year's Human First Award recipients are Charles R. Middleton, Ronna S. Stamm & Paul Lehman Family and Prudence R. Beidler, all of whom have spent decades in various philanthropic to fight for equality and justice to improve the quality of life for all.

Receiving the Community Spirit Award is TransLife Center, a program of Chicago House, for their groundbreaking and comprehensive work in serving Chicago's transgender community.

We are honored and delighted to present this event with the support of esteemed co-chairs Fay Clayton,Ronald B. Grais, Audrey R. Peeples and Richard B. Turner.

This year, members of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago will welcome and perform for guests. Following the program and dinner, guests will dance the night away to the band Maggie Speaks.

The celebration welcomes more than 800 guests each year and welcomes civic leaders, local, state and federal officials, corporate and foundation sponsors, and major donors of Center on Halsted as well as members of the LGBTQ community and its allies. Visit Link Here for tickets and pricing.
